Oscar nominations predictions contest winners split over Best Picture (Video)

Of the more than 3,500 people who entered our contest to predict the 2015 Oscar nominations, Jason Osiason (JasonOsia) topped our leaderboard  with a staggering success rate of 83%. And Adam Norbury (Madadude ) was just one percentage point behind. So, how did they do so much better than the rest of us? As the top scoring Expert, with 79% correct, I just had to connect with them via a Google Hangout (watch above) to find out the secrets of their success and get them to make predictions for the winners on February 28.

These two college students are avid film fans and track the ups and downs of the Oscar race all year long. Each pays particular attention to the guild awards and makes note of what films are in (and out) with these precursor prizes. 

While Jason, who is a business major, is backing “The Big Short” for Best Picture, Adam, who is studying economics and data analysis, is predicting that current frontrunner “Spotlight” will prevail. See all of Jason’s predictions here and check out Adam’s choices here.
