Oscar predictions slugfest: How will BAFTAs affect Best Picture and acting races? (Video)

In our latest Gold Derby editors’ slugfest (watch above), we panic over this Sunday’s BAFTA Awards and how they will affect the Oscars. “The Big Short” took the Producers Guild of America prize for Best Picture, “Spotlight” won Best Ensemble at the SAG Awards and “The Revenant” won the top prize at the DGA Awards. According to our racetrack odds, BAFTA will also go to “The Revenant.” If so, how will that affect an already uncertain Best Picture contest?

Watch Gold Derby editors Tom O’Neil, Paul Sheehan, Chris Beachum and Daniel Montgomery come out swinging in our riotous predictions video above.

Is “The Revenant” really the film to beat at the BAFTAs or will “The Big Short” resume the Oscar march it started at the PGA Awards? Will Idris Elba (“Beasts of No Nation“) follow his SAG win with another Best Supporting Actor victory despite his Oscar snub? And could Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl“) actually upset Brie Larson (“Room“) for Best Actress?
