The chemistry between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt is red-hot in the first trailer for their upcoming sci-fi flick “Passengers” (watch above). This Sony release, due out Dec. 21, showcases these two talents as passengers aboard a spaceship who are woken early from hibernation due to a malfunction. They are immediately attracted to each other and even go on a date (with Michael Sheen as the robot waiter) before realizing that they must work together to save themselves and the rest of those still sleeping.
Not surprisingly, Lawrence and Pratt banter brilliantly, making merry with the deft dialogue crafted by Joe Spaihts. His script had landed on the Blacklist back in 2007 and was touted as one of the hottest in town. Initially, the film was to have starred Keanu Reeves and Reese Witherspoon but bounced around in development for nearly a decade.
Oscar-nominated director Morten Tyldum (“The Imitation Game”) boarded the project last year, and it looks like he has made another winner. Despite shooting in 3-D IMAX, he brings an intimacy to many of the scenes between his two stars and has made a movie that combines elements of romance, action and comedy.
