The hottest place on the web for brutally brilliant discussion of today’s Producers Guild of America noms announcement — and what it means for Oscar contenders — is the Gold Derby forums. Our readers are both happy and outraged (see their reactions below) with this year’s PGA nominees, which include “The Big Short,” “Bridge of Spies,” “Brooklyn,” “Ex Machina,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Martian,” “The Revenant,” “Sicario,” “Spotlight” and “Straight Outta Compton.”

PGA nomination shockers: ‘Ex Machina’ & ‘Sicario’ in, ‘Star Wars’ & ‘Carol’ snubbed

Seven of these 10 match our forecast for the Best Picture lineup at the Oscars with three glaring exceptions: the PGA snubbed “Carol” (#4 on our chart) “Room” (#7) and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (#10) in favor of “Straight Outta Compton” (#14), “Sicario” (#23) and “Ex Machina” (#28).

BB-8: “Ex Machina” getting in is CRAZY! Wow! No “Carol” or “Star Wars” though is a bummer. I still think they have a good chance. At least they weren’t replaced by “Trumbo.”

kazzia: “Ex Machina” in wow wow wow.

Zayner: YAASS “Brooklyn”!! Queen Saoirse Ronan coming for you, Brie Larson.

Lord Freddy Blackfyre: Alicia Vikander will be a double nominee [for “Ex Machina” and “The Danish Girl”] … take it to the bank.

Bradderz: Delighted to see “Mad Max: Fury Road” march on, disappointing to see “Room'”s snub. I’ve been proved wrong with “The Martian” … good film but I’m surprised how well it’s doing. “Sicario’s” success has been a wonderful surprise.

AMG: Where the actual f*** is “Carol”?

AviChristiaans: Just as I predicted. “Brooklyn” the only female skewing film in. Told y’all. And people said I was crazy.

Emmy Runner: Yeah, like I said “Room” is this year’s “Gone Girl.” But even that was nominated here. Oops. I knew something will go wrong after y’all like the movie lol.

kazzia: Yeah they really hate “Carol,” not a single guild nomination.

Zooey the Dreamer: I told you. “Carol” is too good for these idiots. I know that it’ll get into Best Picture at the Oscars. It will get # 1 votes but I really, really want Todd Haynes nominated. What does this man have to do to get the recognition he deserves?!

drenja: Where is “Star Wars”? Damn, and I thought it was gaining momentum.

ThePerksOfBeingAGriff: I’m telling you Kylo Ren is destroying something right now with his light saber.

SamEckmann: “The Force Awakens” missing here could be the nail in the coffin (at least for Best Picture), as this is the guild everyone assumed would back it full force.

Guest2014: Just to show you how back-breakingly stupid today’s PGA decisions are, merely two sets of numbers need to be displayed here: “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” = $750,230,824; “Sicario” = $46,829.435.

jamesgray: Looks like it’ll be an all-white, all-male Oscars this year, folks … despite there being such fantastic offerings from artists outside that community.
