To gather materials for their third unconventional materials challenge of the season, the designers headed to Austin, Texas where they visited Georgetown Farm Supply and Stubb’s BBQ for items to create their designs. Back in New York and working on their unconventional looks, Tim Gunn announced a twist — that they would need to create a second conventional look that would fit in the same collection as their first look.

Based on the strength of his two looks together, Roberi Parra was selected as the winner of the challenge and the first designer to move on to the finale. Next to move on were our season-long frontrunners, Erin Robertson and Laurence Basse, leaving Rik Villa and Cornelius as the bottom two. In the end it was Cornelius’ limited use of unconventional materials that decided his fate and sent him home one challenge before Fashion Week.
