Cornelius has had an uneven record on our predictions charts, at times being among the frontrunners to win the season, but before this week’s episode topped our charts as the likeliest to be eliminated. And he would have been had Tim Gunn not used his one “Tim Gunn Save” of the season. In a typically sympathetic (and justifiably so) move, Tim stopped Cornelius from going home after being thrown under the bus by Erin Robertson and Dexter Simmons, his two teammates. During the judges’ up-close critique of the garments following the runway show, Tim even went so far as to tell them that Cornelius was on a team with “two mean girls,” perhaps our first clue that he might be willing to save Cornelius.

The tension between Cornelius and the Erin and Dexter duo has been brewing for weeks so when the three were randomly drawn onto the same team, sparks were bound to fly. In “Project Pop Up,” three teams of three were tasked with putting together mini collections to be viewed and voted on by the public at a pop up shop in SoHo. In the workroom, Cornelius offered up concerns about the “all red” choice of their collection, but Erin and Dexter overruled him and kept it as is. In the end, this is the main reason the team lost and though Cornelius had been against the decision, the judges thought he hadn’t stuck up for himself.

On the other end of the spectrum, Roberi Parra notched his first challenge win of the season after his, Laurence Basse and Rik Villa’s collection won over the judges. Roberi was applauded for his leadership and for his effortless punk-inspired garment. It was the third time, however, that won a majority of the public vote, but that only counted for 20% of the final results, helping them coast through in a safe second place.
