Gold Derby was in attendance Friday morning when the SAG Awards officially rolled out the red carpet for the weekend ceremony. Journalists were also invited into the Shrine Auditorium where preparations were underway for Saturday’s live telecast on TNT and TBS. Among the highest profile no-shows include Best Film Actor nominee Michael Fassbender (“Steve Jobs“), Best Film Actress nominee Cate Blanchett (“Carol“), Best Film Ensemble nominee Brad Pitt (“The Big Short“) and double nominees Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies” and “Wolf Hall“), Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey,” individual and ensemble), Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones,” individual and ensemble) and Louis C.K. (“Louie” and “Trumbo” ensemble). But any of those may be subject to a last minute change.
Actress and comedian Carol Burnett will be presented with the SAG life achievement award by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (see top photo where their side-by-side tables guarantee lots of laughs by also including Sarah Silverman, Ellie Kemper, Kristen Wiig, and Keegan-Michael Key).
