Debbie Wanner doesn’t have very good odds to win “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” according to our Gold Derby predictions as determined by you. While she’s currently in seventh place to win with 14/1 odds, after this week’s episode I’m inclined to think that she could actually be the eventual champ. Below, consider my reasons why before making your “Survivor” predictions for a chance to top our famous leaderboards. It’s fun and easy, so start now by scrolling down to predict who will be eliminated next.
Think about it — Debbie has been this season’s main character, narrating both her own successful strategy and commenting on the faults of others like Peter Baggenstos throughout the initial six episodes. This week her tribe didn’t even go to tribal council, but we still got to see the way she reeled new tribe mates Nick Maiorano and Michele Fitzgerald into her growing alliance.
We talk a lot about the “winner’s edit” in reality TV and Debbie has easily assumed that spot ever since the earlier edit-holder Anna Khait went home two episodes ago. Debbie is being shown in a positive and strategic light more and more each episode, leading me to believe she’s in it for the long haul.
This stands in stark contrast to her edit in the first few episodes, where she was shown as the one to be made fun of. Her offbeat personality and confidence seemed too over-the-top to be taken seriously and when the editors continued to switch up her traditional “career” tag line under her display name that feeling was reinforced. The comedy of her character has taken a turn though — now it’s kind of endearing and the more we get to see of her making power moves the more the audience is supposed to respect her.
In terms of where she stands in the game, next week’s merge could play out in any number of ways for Debbie and her former Brains tribe mates. With Peter’s elimination this week (listen to our podcast with Peter right here), the original Brains enter the merge with four of the eleven castaways, equal to the four original Beauty and leaving the three original Brawn as the potential swing votes.
That is only, of course, if alliances divide along original tribal lines, but what we saw of Debbie, Nick and Michele this week, I think that’s unlikely to happen. Debbie is probably going to pull in either Nick or Michele to join her original alliance with Joseph Del Campo, Neal Gottlieb and Aubry Bracco to take control of the game. If that happens, Debbie will be at the head of a majority alliance that could easily plow through to the final tribal council.
Can YOU take down our top-scoring reader Max next week to earn bragging rights and a place on our Season 32 leaderboard? For the entire season so far, he has leading 77% accuracy and 17,252 points, but there are still many weeks left to play in our contest.
In our “Survivor” predictions center, you get to answer the following questions before each episode airs on CBS every Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.:
Who will win ‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’?
Which castaway will be eliminated?
Who will win the Reward challenge?
Who will win the Immunity challenge?
Will a hidden Immunity idol be played?
Will anybody quit or be medically evacuated?
At the end of each week, the eligible user with the highest prediction accuracy and most points will be the leaderboard champ for the week, so it’s beneficial to keep coming back often and making/updating your predictions.
Remember that coming out on top doesn’t just mean answering that week’s questions correctly. You also have to use your three big bets (500 points and two of 200 points) strategically to score the most game points. If you bet on a longshot who pulls off an upset, you can really rack up the points, so don’t take them for granted.
