“I knew [my elimination] was a possibility, yet I thought I had corrected it back at the beach,” says the latest “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” castoff Nick Maiorano to Gold Derby about his blindside last night. “I was blindsided in the fact that I thought Kyle Jason and Scot Pollard were gonna vote for me, but instead it was Michele Fitzgerald and Julia Sokolowski. So I was surprised there. Super surprised.”

Who will win ‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’? See exclusive predictions
According to exclusive Gold Derby odds that are derived from the predictions made by contest entrants like you, Nick had leading 7/4 odds (37% chance) of being sent packing. That put him in first place on our elimination chart for this week’s episode, titled “The Jocks vs. the Pretty People.”
Regarding his self-described “arrogance” on the show, Nick admits that if he had a do-over, “The thing that I would change is the way I spoke with Michele early on in the game and then throughout the game.”
We also couldn’t help ourselves in asking Nick about Debbie Wanner and whether there was a bit of a showmance going on there. “Debbie is wonderful,” Nick laughs. “She might have been somewhat attracted to me, but not in a serious way. The only problem I had with Debbie — because I could flirt with Debbie in private all she wants and all I want — she just did it publicly. So that hurt her game and that hurt my game.”
Also in our chat, Nick reveals what qualities he’s looking for in the eventual winner, what he thought about Tai Trang accidentally mentioning the super idol at Tribal Council, and what he thought of the Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty twist. Click the video above to listen to our Q&A podcast.
