“I was so blindsided that even all this time later watching on TV last night I still couldn’t believe it,” confesses “Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X” castoff Paul Wachter to Gold Derby after his elimination in Episode 3. “It was absolutely miserable to watch.” Listen to our full exit interview above and then make your “Survivor” predictions for a chance to top our famous leaderboards. It’s fun and easy, so start now by predicting who will be eliminated next.
Regarding his remark on the show where he told fellow Gen X-er Jessica Lewis that he’d be open to an all-male alliance, Paul admits, “That was a convenient moment for Jessica to do what Jessica does. She took what I said, even though she trusted me and I trusted her and we had a great alliance, and she got sketchy.”
Paul’s near-evacuation last week due to heat exhaustion was terrifying to watch on TV, but he reveals he didn’t warn his family about the severity of his condition beforehand. “Because I had no idea how it was gonna play out, I basically told everybody I was sick. I just said I got sick, but I was okay. My wife was ready for it, but my daughter cried — that was not fun to watch.”
Also in our Q&A podcast, Paul chats about searching for the hidden immunity idol, whether he felt at a disadvantage being the oldest person (52) in a season that divided players based on their age, and if he would ever consider playing “Survivor” again.
