In a cruel scheduling twist, fans of “The Voice” decided which four of the top eight artists were sent home Tuesday night. That sets up a finale event next Monday and Tuesday to determine if Adam Wakefield, Alisan Porter, Hannah Huston, or Laith Al-Saadi will be the 10th season champion.
The home audience had been voting since the end of Monday’s episode to determine the fates of the Top 8 contenders. The three artists with the most votes and sent directly to the championship round were Wakefield, Porter, and Huston. The bottom two contestants immediately terminated were Shalyah Fearing (for coach Adam Levine) and Paxton Ingram (for coach Blake Shelton).
That left three remaining artists to compete for an instant save at the end of Tuesday’s show. Mary Sarah (for Team Blake) performed “Something in the Water” by Carrie Underwood. Bryan Bautista (for coach Christina Aguilera) sang “Adorn” by Miguel. Al-Saadi (for Team Adam) performed “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix and received the most votes to continue.
Each coach now has a single contender in the finale. Three-time top coach Levine has Al-Saadi. Four-time winning coach Shelton has Wakefield. One-time coaching champ Pharrell Williams has Huston. Aguilera, who has never had the winning artist, has Porter.
