Episode two of “The Walking Dead” season seven, titled “The Well,” couldn’t have been more different from the season premiere. After the brutality of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his ruthless slaying of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun), we got a kinder and gentler zombie apocalypse with the introduction of a seemingly benevolent leader: King Ezekiel (Khary Payton). But which character do you think had the better introduction: the evil Negan or the good Ezekiel?
We meet Ezekiel as Carol (Melissa McBride) is recovering from wounds she sustained at the end of season six. She and Morgan (Lennie James) both find themselves in the Kingdom, a peaceful society led by the enigmatic leader, who makes proclamations from a throne and has a pet tiger named Shiva, as one is wont to do. Carol doesn’t buy his shtick and plans to leave the Kingdom as soon as she can, but a heart-to-heart with Ezekiel makes her reconsider.
Ezekiel seems as light and compassionate as Negan is dark and sociopathic. Obviously we’re not supposed to like Negan, but which character do you think had the stronger introduction? And which one are you most excited to see more of? Vote in our “Walking Dead” poll below.
