Will Season 2 of Netflix’s sweet-as-candy comedy “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” break through with Emmy voters this year? This colorful confection from the minds of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock earned seven Emmy noms last year including Best Comedy Series, but didn’t take home a single trophy. Not to worry, as the promo trailer for the new season (watch above) promises to be even “Kimmier” than ever.
The new trailer features the saccharine Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) jogging through a drab, gray New York City as everyone she comes into contact with gets imbued with her classic pink-and-yellow color scheme.
Supporting characters Titus (Tituss Burgess) and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) also make appearances in the promo — him singing his trademark “Pinot Noir” jingle and her putting on shades to shield herself from Kimmy’s rainbow-like positivity.
Season 2 debuts April 15 on Netflix. Here’s a refresher of the show’s seven Emmy bids from last year:
Best Comedy Series — lost to “Veep”
Best Supporting Actor (Burgess) — lost to Tony Hale (“Veep”)
Best Supporting Actress (Krakowski) — lost to Allison Janney (“Mom”)
Best Guest Actor (Jon Hamm) — lost to Bradley Whitford (“Transparent”)
Best Guest Actress (Tina Fey) — lost to Joan Cusack (“Shameless”)
Best Comedy Casting — lost to “Veep”
Best Comedy Stunts — lost to “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”
