Having trouble remembering who was alive or dead (or somewhere in between) at the end of the fifth season of “Game of Thrones”? Thankfully, the folks at io9 have compiled a quick, yet hilarious recap of everything you need to know before Season 6 kicks off this Sunday at 9 p.m on HBO. Watch the video above.
While it’s true that fan-fave Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) is dead, the recap assures us that the red priestess Melisandre (Carice van Houten) is in his same general location at the Wall. Since the title of the premiere episode is “The Red Woman,” should fans take this to be a clue that Melisandre may try to work her witch magic on Jon’s corpse?
Also in the video, you’ll be reminded that Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) was last seen surrounded by the barbaric horse-riding warriors the Dothraki in last season’s cliffhanger. “We don’t know what for, but it’s probably not good,” notes io9’s narrator.
The premiere episode is written by showrunners David Benioff & D. B. Weiss and directed by Jeremy Podeswa. Last year, “Game of Thrones” won a record-breaking 12 Emmy Awards including Best Drama Series. Will the momentum continue for Season 6?
