Five of the six Golden Globe winners are now Oscar nominees: the two drama champs — Casey Affleck (“Manchester by the Sea”) and Isabelle Huppert (“Elle”) — the two comedy/musical champs — Ryan Gosling (“La La Land”) and  Emma Stone (“La La Land”) — and supporting actress champ Viola Davis (Fences”). Should they prevail on Feb. 26, each would be a first-time Oscar winner.

Among the half dozen past Oscar winners to reap bids were two-time victor Denzel Washington (Best Actor, “Fences”) and one-timer Natalie Portman (Best Actress, “Jackie”),

The biggest surprises among the 20 names announced were Best Actress contender Ruth Negga, who was nominated at the Globes but snubbed by both SAG and BAFTA for “Loving,” and Best Supporting Actor nominee Michael Shannon, who showed up at Critics Choice but missed out everywhere else for “Nocturnal Animals” (his co-star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was widely expected to get in following a surprise Globe win).
