There are country music stars throughout the 2017 Academy of Country Music Award nominations, but there are two nominations that comprise pretty much the entire history of country music. The massive collaboration “Forever Country” by Artists of Then, Now and Forever is up for Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. It was recorded in 2016 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Country Music Association Awards, and it features 30 CMA Award winners — most of whom have won their fair share of ACMs too. Will voters be able to resist?
The singers involved in the four-minute song include Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Kacey Musgraves, Lady Antebellum, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton and many, many more. Those artists sing a medley of John Denver‘s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Willie Nelson‘s “On the Road Again” and Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” and the video features every single one of the artists involved, so it might be irresistible to the country music industry in both categories.
It’s the frontrunner for both awards according to our racetrack odds. Its star-studded video, which has been viewed more than 16 million times as of this writing, leads our Music Video predictions with odds of 10/11, and it’s even farther ahead for Vocal Event with odds of 8/11. If it claims both, will they have enough trophies left for the rest of the ceremony? They may have to fill out an IOU for the Entertainer of the Year winner — then again, most of the Entertainer of the Year nominees are featured in this song (Aldean, Bryan, Underwood and Urban, but not Florida Georgia Line), so they might already by taken care of by then.
