“American Idol” judge Katy Perry introduced the country to 28-year-old vocal coach Britney Holmes during Sunday’s telecast of the American Music Awards. Watch Holmes’ “American Idol” audition video above and then find out if she advances to the next round by watching tonight’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Holmes belted out a powerful version of James Bay‘s “Let It Go” while wearing tattered jeans and a yellow jacket. “If you haven’t voted already, there is still time!” Holmes Tweeted to her fans after her audition was featured on the AMAs. “HUGE thanks to all of you supporting, sharing, commenting & voting! Can’t thank y’all enough.”
As Perry announced in ABC’s video contest, “Hey guys, I met this incredible young lady, Britney Holmes in Nashville. She came to audition and she had an incredible voice. We want to give her one more shot, so what do you guys think about her? Take it away, Britney!” Will Holmes earn the Golden Ticket to Hollywood?
After going off the air in 2016, Fox’s TV sensation was recently revived by ABC and will now premiere its 16th season on March 11, 2018. “American Idol” was a ratings juggernaut during is original heyday and made superstars out of several of its competitors, including winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, and future Oscar champ (and current “The Voice” coach) Jennifer Hudson. The show amassed a whopping 68 Emmy nominations over its 15-season run, taking home nine trophies. Ryan Seacrest returns to host the show that made him a household name.
