“America’s Got Talent” 2017 featured a boy band named 5 Alive during Tuesday night’s episode that successfully made it through to the next round. However, head judge Simon Cowell was not impressed with the group at all, calling them “a joke.” Do you agree with Cowell, or do you think that 5 Alive could be the next Backstreet Boys or NSYNC? The video has already amassed more than one million views on the “AGT” YouTube channel after being published on July 7, so clearly there is an audience for them. Watch 5 Alive’s audition video above and then sound off in our poll below.
Other than Cowell, the “AGT” judging panel that consists of Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel all loved the boy band. Mel B and Mandel even jumped up to their feet at the conclusion of their performance, which included covers of “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe and “Pony” by Ginuwine.
The group of five guys from Miami, Florida have known each other for years, though the guy with the hat jokes to Cowell that he met the others because he “owns a private limo company.” They range in age from 18 to 20. “With everything going on in the world today, I think what America really needs is a boy band,” they tell the crowd before launching into their performance.
Where do you stand on the 5 Alive drama? Are you on Team Mel B who gave them a standing ovation and wants them to continue on in the competition? Or are you on Team Simon who thinks the guys are a joke compared to other successful boy bands like One Direction? After voting in our “Americas Got Talent” poll, let us know your thoughts down in the comments section.
