‘America’s Got Talent’ tearjerker: 13-year-old Evie Clair sings ‘Arms’ for father who’s battling cancer [WATCH]

Thirteen-year-old singer Evie Clair broke our hearts during Tuesday’s fourth audition episode of “America’s Got Talent” when she dedicated her performance of Christina Perri‘s inspirational song “Arms” to her father who’s battling cancer. The teenager from Florence, AZ told the judges, “About a year ago my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. They gave him a 5% chance to live and he still continued working and supporting our family. And so tonight I’m here to sing for him.”

As for her song choice, she explained: “When my dad is having rough days, I go up to his room and sing this song to help him feel better and just give him comfort and strength to continue fighting.” Watch  Clair’s emotional audition video above.

The audience members and Season 12 judges were awe-struck and teary-eyed with Clair’s beautiful voice and poise. Howie Mandel praised, “I felt like America and everybody here at ‘AGT’ wants to take our arms and wrap them around you and tell you, ‘You are home.'” Mel B was effusive with her praise: “You are so special and your voice is so amazing and you’re very, very talented.” Heidi Klum added, “I think you have a very beautiful voice and I can feel all of your feelings.” Simon Cowell reflected, “I’m trying to put myself where your dad is. He must have thought, ‘I have one heck of a talented daughter,’ because your voice is stunning.” And, as he concluded, “You’re one of the ones we’re gonna remember.”

If Clair wins season 12 of “AGT,” she will be the third young female singer to win following first season champ Bianca Ryan and last year’s victor Grace VanderWaal. Four adult male singers have prevailed: Neal E. Boyd, Kevin Skinner, Michael Grimm and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. The other five “Americas Got Talent” winners have a vast array of talents, including two ventriloquists (Terry Fator and Paul Zerdin), a dog trick team (Olate Dogs), an experimental dancer (Kenichi Ebina) and a magician (Mat Franco).
