“America’s Got Talent” crowned its 12th winner last month to huge ratings, with 12-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer winning the $1 million prize over child singer Angelica Hale. Now that she’s returned home to Oklahoma City, OK, Darci Lynne entertained fans at this weekend’s OKC Energy FC soccer match by singing the national anthem. The twist? She performed without the aid of her trusted puppets. Watch Darci Lynne Farmer singing the Star-Spangled Banner above.
Since leaving “AGT” Darci Lynne has been keeping busy by going to school and preparing for her upcoming Las Vegas show. Planet Hollywood will host the four-night “AGT” show from November 2 to November 5, with several of the finalists joining Darci Lynne on stage, including Hale, neon dance group Light Balance, and comedian Preacher Lawson. As of this writing, a whopping 70% of fans say they’re planning on seeing Darci Lynne perform live in Las Vegas.
This weekend’s performance is the first time “AGT” fans have seen Darci Lynne singing in front of a large crowd without a puppet on her arm. That means rabbit Petunia, mouse Oscar and old woman Edna all had to watch from home. How do you think Darci Lynne did singing the national anthem? Be sure to sound off down in the comments section.
Darci Lynne is the third ventriloquist to win “Americas Got Talent” following Season 2’s Terry Fator and Season 10’s Paul Zerdin, proving that reality TV fans just can’t get enough of those talking puppets. (See complete list of “America’s Got Talent” winners in our photo gallery below.) “AGT” returns to NBC next summer, with all four of its judges expected to return: Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel.
