“An Inconvenient Truth” was a major cultural and political event when it was released in 2006. It focused on former vice president Gore’s presentation of evidence about the dangers of climate change, and it was a rare crossover documentary hit at the box office, grossing $49.7 million worldwide and winning Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards. But 11 years later the international community somehow hasn’t come together in perfect harmony to completely reverse global warming. In fact, on the same day the trailer was released, President Donald Trump signed an executive order ceasing government enforcement of climate regulations. So it’s no surprise that Trump’s anti-environmental rhetoric is prominently featured in the trailer.
