‘black-ish’ star Anthony Anderson replaces Jimmy Kimmel as host of ABC post-Oscar special

Jimmy Kimmel hosted a post-Oscar special edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for the better part of the last decade but is doing the main Academy Awards telecast this year. So, ABC turned to another of its stars, Anthony Anderson of “black-ish” to take over that time slot.

The Emmy-nominated actor will preside over the alphabet’s first live broadcast from the Governors Ball and will be joined by “Good Morning America” co-anchor Lara Spencer. Chris Connelly of ABC News will interview winners backstage at the Dolby Theater while Yahoo style editor Joe Zee will offer fashion commentary.

Let’s hope Kimmel stops by for a chat. He certainly had fun with his own take on the ceremony in years past, with winners often making the trip across Hollywood Boulevard to make merry with him in his studio. And he produced several viral videos that featured a slew of Oscar winners including his “nemesis” Matt Damon as well as the likes of Ben Affleck, Tom Hanks and Helen Mirren.
