Experts predict ‘La La Land’ will sweep BAFTA Awards on way to Oscars

Oscar frontrunnerLa La Land” is predicted to win a jaw-dropping nine awards at the BAFTAs on Sunday including Best Picture according to experts’ picks at Gold Derby. The timing couldn’t be better for Damien Chazelle‘s musical romp as final Oscar voting begins the following day. With odds of 2/9, “La La Land” is well ahead of “Moonlight” (13/2) in the top race. And while Chazelle is all but certain to win Best Director as well, he is likely to lose the original screenplay race to Kenneth Longeran, who both wrote and directed “Manchester by the Sea.”

The seven Experts predicting a win for Affleck are: Edward Douglas (Weekend Warrior), Joyce Eng (TV Guide), Tom O’Neil (Gold Derby), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), Anne Thompson (Indiewire) and Brian Truitt (USA Today).
