A&E orders more ‘Bates Motel’ in the form of 30-minute post-finale special — Grab your tissues!

As “Bates Motel” approaches its April 24 swan song, A&E is milking the event for all it’s worth by ordering a 30-minute wrap-up special to air immediately following the series finale. Our sister site Deadline reports that the special is titled “Bates Motel: The Check Out” and will feature appearances by cast members Vera Farmiga (Norma), Freddie Highmore (Norman) and Nestor Carbonell (Romero) and co-creators Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin.

While diehard fans will no doubt need to keep their tissues handy during the event, it won’t all be tears and sadness. The special will also feature hilarious bloopers as well as the show’s best scenes and the cast answering fan questions.

In preparation for the “Psycho”-tic final episodes, Gold Derby has chosen our favorite moments from the series in our photo gallery above, so take a relaxing stroll down memory lane in Norma’s nightgown as “Bates Motel” prepares for its final guests.

Despite being killed off last season, Norma is back this year thanks to her character having a prominent place in the memory and disturbed psyche of Norman. However, due to her decreased screen time Farmiga is being campaigned at the Emmy Awards as Best Drama Supporting Actress, as opposed to Best Drama Actress where she received a nomination back in 2013.

It will be interesting to see how the series retells the familiar plight of Marion Crane, the iconic “Psycho” character who will be played by Rihanna on the TV series. Watch for Rihanna to make her “Bates Motel” debut in the fifth episode.
