BET Awards: Watch Leslie Jones do opening monologue and rate her as host

Leslie Jones hosted Sunday’s BET Awards and kicked off the music-filled ceremony with a monologue that made merry with many of those in attendance at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. What did you think of her efforts? Watch her routine below and then vote in our poll.

The “SNL” funny lady readily admitted she didn’t know all of the famous faces looking up at her. “I don’t know all the rappers names. I don’t know if I’m going to mess up somebody’s names. When I was coming up you understood the rapper’s names. The names belonged to them. Old Dirty Bastard was an old dirty bastard. What’s a Lil Yachty? Is that a boat? It’s a small boat? Why don’t you want a big yachty?”

She revealed that she was worried that she was too old to connect with this hip crowd. “I’m about to be 50 years old in September. That’s right! Black don’t crack, but you do have to use some lotion. I know I don’t look 50. I look like I’m in my 30s but my bod be like, ‘You better sit your ass down. You 50, bitch!’”
