At Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards, we are predicting that Adele will win Artist of the Year again. This English songbird will successfully defend her title against against Beyonce, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Drake, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots and The Weeknd.
Many of her rival nominees for the top prize won’t walk away empty-handed at the silver anniversary celebration of these awards at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas that airs on ABC on Sunday, May 21 beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
Our readers expect Beyonce to claim Billboard 200 Album of the Year for “Lemonade” over Drake (“Views”), Rihanna (“Anti”), Twenty One Pilots (“Blurryface”) and The Weeknd (“Starboy”). We also think Beyonce will win Best R&B Artist and Best Touring Artist.
The Chainsmokers will also have a good night too, taking home the Hot 100 Single of the Year for one of their two nominated collaborations: “Closer” featuring Halsey. They also contend with “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya, as do Drake (“One Dance” featuring WizKid & Kyla), Justin Timberlake (“Can’t Stop the Feeling!”) and Twenty One Pilots (“Heathens”). We also expect The Chainsmokers to win Best Duo or Group.
Drake will win Male Artist over two-time champ Justin Bieber as well as Future, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd. He will also win Best Rap Artist. Adele is tipped to take Female Artist for the third time over Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Sia. And Twenty One Pilots will claim the Best Rock Artist award.
