Did Briar Nolet deserve better in the “World of Dance” finale? She was an underdog throughout the competition, but even though she came from behind to advance to the World Final, she left the competition in fifth place. Now you can watch every single one of her season three performances above.
Nolet got off to a modest start. During the Qualifiers, the contemporary soloist received and average score of 87.3 from judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo. That was more than the 85 points she needed to advance, but not by much. Just a few points lower and she would have taken an early trip home.
The next round was a close call for her too. In the Duels she went head-to-head against the duo All Ready, and she lost. In past seasons that would have meant instant elimination, but Nolet had a high enough score to put her into a redemption dance against Denise and Josh. She won that second-chance bout and earned a spot in the Cut.
From there she never looked back. She received the highest score in the Upper Division during the Cut, and then she won the Upper Divisional Final, which earned her a place in the million-dollar finale. And to think she came so close to elimination early on in the competition.
Unfortunately, her comeback story ended there. Her dynamic, gymnastic moves weren’t enough to challenge The Kings, the Indian hip-hop crew that dominated the competition from beginning to end. They received a perfect score of 100, while Nolet’s final routine scored 92.7, placing her last out of the final five acts. Should she have gotten higher scores? Do you think she even deserved to beat The Kings?
