‘Dancing with the Stars’: Frankie Muniz was a ‘spine-tingling’ stalker in creepy contemporary dance [WATCH]

“Last week was a disaster,” admitted “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Frankie Muniz, reflecting on his “Movie Night” jazz routine. Even his partner Witney Carson agreed, “Let’s just forget that ever happened.” So they both had a lot to prove with their “Halloween Night” contemporary dance to “Every Breath You Take.” Watch it above.

“I want to be the bad guy. I want to be the guy everyone’s afraid of,” Muniz explained. You couldn’t necessarily expect the star of “Malcolm in the Middle” to be convincing as a sociopathic stalker, but then you might not have expected him to lead a dashing tango or to effectively channel Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” but he did both of those things. And his creepy contemporary turned out to be just as good — perhaps even better.

Judge Len Goodman said, “I’m not a fan of horror movies … but that was one-and-a-half minutes of horror, and I thought it was fantastic. I’m going to have nightmares.” Bruno Tonioli added, “You two tonight were truly inspired and back on top of the league. The storytelling, the interpretation, the dramatic tension you maintained all the way through … It was spine-tinglingly good.” And Carrie Ann Inaba concluded, “I love when I see something that elevates the world of dance. Tonight that wasn’t just an incredible routine, you elevated what dance is.”

Muniz received straight 10s across the board for a perfect score of 30 out of 30. What’s more, he also got a perfect score for his group routine later in the evening with Team Phantom of the Ballroom, so he was the only contestant who had a perfect night. That big him on top of the judges’ leaderboard in a big way, throwing down the gauntlet against frontrunners Jordan Fisher and Lindsey Stirling.

Do you think Muniz deserved that perfect score? Vote in our poll below to let us know what you think.
