“I’m so excited to be dancing with [Kristi Yamaguchi] because I’ve been a fan for a long time. I watched her at the Olympics,” said “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Lindsey Stirling about performing a special trio dance routine with the Olympic gold medal winning figure skater. Yamaguchi won season six of “DWTS” with Mark Ballas, Stirling’s current partner, so there was already plenty of established chemistry. And their jazz routine yielded one of the best scores of the night from the judges: two 9s and a 10 for a total of 28 out of 30. Watch it above.
Len Goodman said of their performance, “Like the song says, ‘There may be trouble ahead,’ but on those two performances tonight you’ve got no trouble. That was terrific.” Bruno Tonioli added, “Everything I loved, well done!” And Carrie Ann Inaba concluded, “What made you, Kristi, so great was that you were always so pristine and perfect, and tonight you guys were exactly that. All three of you together, there was this incredible synergy. It was like I’d pay money to go see that dance. It was so fantastic: classic, clean, and spot-on.”
What did you think of the return of Mirror Ball champion Yamaguchi to “DWTS” nine years after her victory? Was the performance just as spot-on as Inaba said it was? And how will it affect Stirling’s standing in the competition? She lost some ground on the judges’ leaderboard and in our predictions after sustaining a rib injury that put her season in jeopardy last week.
