‘Dancing with the Stars’ preview: Who will get the high score in week 7, ‘A Night at the Movies’?

After last week’s shocking elimination of Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, the remaining seven stars are now on high alert. Regardless of their scores they too could be one dance away from it being their last.

This week will no doubt have its share of drama as the highest scoring couple of the night will receive immunity from elimination. The remaining six will then compete head-to-head in dance-offs. And by the end of the show, two more couples will be ending their journey for the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Stepping in for judge Julianne Hough will be Emmy nominated choreographer Mandy Moore.

Each couple will perform a movie theme to accompany their assigned dance style. Normani Kordei and Nick Viall will both perform an Argentine tango, Simone Biles a Charleston, Nancy Kerrigan a tango, David Ross a salsa, and Bonner Bolton and Rashad Jennings a paso doble.

So who will come out on top? Check out my predictions below.

Simone Biles & Sasha Farber

Charleston — Song: “Charleston” by Bob Wilson & His Varsity Rhythm Boys (Theme: Silent Films)

Biles and Farber haven’t topped the leaderboard since week one. Their theme this week is silent films, and I’m really excited to see what Farber comes up with as choreography for this dance. The Charleston is made for Biles, as she will no doubt use her high-flying gymnastics moves and display her million-dollar smile as well. Expect them to be the top scoring couple this week.

Score Prediction: 10 (from Carrie Ann Inaba) + 10 (from Len Goodman) + 10 (from Mandy Moore) + 9 (from Bruno Tonioli) = 40

Dish ‘DWTS’ with Hollywood insiders in our notorious forums

Bonner Bolton & Sharna Burgess

Paso Doble – Song: “Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes” by Aaron Copland (Theme: Western)

Bolton and Burgess will tackle a western-themed paso doble. Bolton has had a rough couple of weeks. One of his issues has been technique and personality. However, I think his lack of personality will work in his favor as the paso requires more aggression and passion rather than personality. That said, I do think he will continue to have trouble with movement and technique.

Score Prediction: 8 (Inaba) + 8 (Goodman) + 8 (Moore) + 8 (Tonioli) = 32

Rashad Jennings & Emma Slater

Paso Doble — Song: “Oh Fortuna” by Carl Orff (Theme: Horror)

Jennings and Slater are one of the only couples to have topped the leaderboard so far this season, but they have seen a dip in their scores the last two weeks. They’re are looking to change that tonight with a horror-themed paso doble. This dance style has always been great for NFL players. It’s full of aggression, passion, and masculinity that they’re able to execute easily. Jennings has all the ingredients to knock this routine out of the park.

Score Prediction: 10 (Inaba) + 9 (Goodman) + 10 (Moore) + 10 (Tonioli) = 39

Dancing with the Stars’ controversy: Biggest ‘DWTS’ scandals

Nancy Kerrigan & Artem Chigvintsev

Tango — Song: “Oh Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison (Theme: Romance)

Kerrigan and Chigvintsev hit a bit of a rough patch with her paso doble last week. This week she will be dancing a romance-themed tango to “Oh Pretty Woman.” Interestingly enough, they will have to face comparisons yet again to a past fan-favorite couple as season 10’s winners Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough danced a tango to the same exact song. So I hope that Kerrigan has stopped with criticizing herself. I think she’s a great dancer and could go far but she’s only hurting herself by overthinking. This dance will no doubt be fun, full of content and will have the proper hold and technique that Len Goodman loves.

Score Predictions: 9 (Inaba) + 10 (Goodman) + 9 (Moore) + 9 (Tonioli) = 37

Normani Kordei & Val Chmerkovskiy

Argentine Tango — Song: “Quizas Quizas Quizas” by Jennifer Lopez (Theme: Foreign)

Kordei and Chmerkovskiy have been the couple to beat for the last few weeks. The expectations are high for them this week as they perform a foreign Argentine tango. I’m really excited to see this routine. I know that this is going to be full sexy movements and lifts while telling an amazing story. Chmerkovskiy has been on point this season in choreographing memorable routines for Kordei. This will no doubt be another show-stopper. Hopefully, Goodman gives her her due and finally presents her with a 10.

Score Predictions: 10 (Inaba) + 9 (Goodman) + 10 (Moore) + 10 (Tonioli) = 39

Top 10 BEST ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Contestants Ever

David Ross & Lindsay Arnold

Salsa — Song: “Universal Mind Control” by Common (Theme: Sci-Fi)

After earning high marks from the judges early on in the competition, Ross is now finding himself near the bottom of the pack. His Argentine tango and jive in the last two weeks didn’t receive the best reception from the judges. Will he redeem himself and hit a home run with his Sci-Fi salsa? Out of all the themes this week, I felt that Ross and Arnold were screwed. I’m having a hard time even picturing a sci-fi salsa routine, and unfortunately Latin routines haven’t been Ross’s strong suit. But the great thing about him is that he will embrace the bizarre theme-and-dance mashup and just have fun with it. I don’t think this dance is going to be him near the top of the leaderboard, but he’ll probably receive solid scores from the judges.

Score Predictions: 8 (Inaba) + 8 (Goodman) + 8 (Moore) + 8 (Tonioli) = 32

‘Dancing with the Stars’: The 10 WORST contestants ever

Nick Viall & Peta Murgatroyd

Argentine Tango — Song: “Dangerous” by David Guetta featuring Sam Martin

After escaping elimination last week, Viall and Murgatroyd are now hoping to survive the double elimination despite falling to the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard. They will be bringing an action-movie theme to their Argentine tango. I like the song choice; with a better dancer this would be an amazing routine. Hopefully for Viall’s sake Murgatroyd keeps the choreography simple with a lift or two included. She has done a great job of challenging Viall by making the routines more difficult, but he can never master it. With that being said, I can see his scores slightly improve from last week.

Score Predictions: 8 (Inaba) + 8 (Goodman) + 8 (Moore) + 8 (Tonioli) = 32

So here’s how I think the overall judges’ leaderboard will break down. Do you agree with me that Biles will return to the top spot for the first time since week one?

1. Simone Biles — 40
2. Rashad Jennings — 39
2. Normani Kordei — 39
4. Nancy Kerrigan — 37
5. Bonner Bolton — 32
5. Bonner Bolton — 32
5. Nick Viall — 32
