‘Dancing with the Stars’: Team Boy Band’s group dance was more like ‘N Stink’ [WATCH]

Week six of “Dancing with the Stars” pitted boy bands against girl groups both in terms of the musical selections and the actual competition. The eight remaining celebrity contestants split off into two teams of four, with the male stars battling the female stars for freestyle group dances. Neither of those routines blew the judges away, but Team Boy Band with Bonner Bolton, Rashad Jennings, David Ross and Nick Viall incorporated a striptease into their performance and were praised for their high-spirited entertainment value. Len Goodman said, “That was full of gimmicks and crowd-pleasing moves. But I tell you what, that’s what you’ve got to do if you’re going to beat the girls. Good on you, plenty of fun. It made Bruno and I cry.” Bruno Tonioli concurred with that assessment, though some of his praise sounded a bit backhanded: “It was like a ‘Spinal Tap’ version of a boy band, with a little bit of Lost Direction, a little N Stink … I literally was crying, thank you very much.”

Carrie Ann Inaba also damned with faint praise: “As a group it was much better than I expected it to be.” But Nick Carter was more generous, telling the foursome, “You guys missed your calling. You guys were great. I loved it.” Carter gave the fellas a 9, but the rest of the judges gave them 8s for a total of 33 out of 40.
