‘Dancing with the Stars’: Victoria Arlen’s final dance was an ‘iconic’ Charleston showstopper [WATCH]

“For the ‘Iconic Dance’ we have the Amber RileyDerek Hough Charleston from season 17,” said “Dancing with the Stars” pro Val Chmerkovskiy before performing with his celebrity partner, Paralympian Victoria Arlen. For the “Iconic Dances” during the semifinals each celebrity had to recreate a famous routine that received perfect 10s from the judges in the previous season. After watching the original performance Arlen said, “It’s intimidating because [Amber Riley] crushed it.” After receiving criticism from the judges last week on “Trio Night” Arlen wanted to prove to the judges that she could not only dance, but also fully inhabit the personality and emotion of the dance. Did she succeed? Watch it above and let us know what you thought in the comments below.

Judge Bruno Tonioli said, “I have to say, your acting tonight was right on the money because what you’ve taken on is something that was performed by a performing powerhouse with boundless energy. But you gave it your own interpretation. It had charm, it had wit, and your timing was spot-on.” Carrie Ann Inaba added, “I didn’t think it was possible, but I forgot about Amber and Derek while watching you … It was all yours, uniquely yours. Every time I watch you I feel good.” And Len Goodman concluded, “That put a smile on my face. It was full of energy, full of razzmatazz … That was a performance!”

Unfortunately, it happened to be Arlen’s last performance because she was eliminated at the end of the night based on her scores and viewer votes from last week, but at least she got to go out at her best: she received a 9 and two 10s from the judges for a total of 29 out of 30. That was her best score of the season.

Do you agree that it was her best dance? Did she deserve to be eliminated? Let us know in our poll below.
