“The situation they find themselves in is most unusual. Time is literally against them,” says Peter Capaldi about episode 11 of “Doctor Who,” titled “World Enough and Time,” which premieres on Saturday, June 24, on BBC America. Adds Pearl Mackie, “The team go to visit a spaceship which is 400 miles long and things go drastically wrong.” Watch them preview the episode above.
“World Enough and Time” is written by showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by Rachel Talalay. The last time these two teamed up was the season-nine two-part finale “Heaven Sent” and “Hell Bent” in which the Doctor reunited with his long-lost race, the Time Lords. Talalay is also set to direct this season’s July 1 finale and the December 25 Christmas special, so this creative team will be closing out the series for Capaldi and Moffat, who are both leaving the show after that Christmas special.
So watch out for Missy (Michelle Gomez). Formerly known as the Master, Missy is the Doctor’s fellow Time Lord, and in many ways is quite his opposite: a megalomaniac often bent on world domination. The Doctor has kept Missy locked in a vault for safe keeping while he has attempted to reform her this season, but Capaldi explains, “Episode 11 sees the Doctor allowing Missy to join the group.” Two Time Lords should be a blessing in any crisis, though she could also turn out to be the one who spells doom for Capaldi’s Doctor.
