“The Bachelorette” has aired on ABC since 2003 and for a dozen seasons has been bringing romance to its viewers. It flips the script from “The Bachelor” by having countless men vying for one woman’s heart. But unlike when the men do the choosing on “The Bachelor,” the ladies of “The Bachelorette” have a far better track record when it comes to marriages. Click through our photo gallery above of every “Bachelorette” so far to see whom they chose and what happened after the cameras stopped rolling.
ABCs “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” franchise joined “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “American Idol” as part of the reality show boom of the early 2000s. But unlike those shows, the popular “Bachelor” franchise has yet to receive a nomination at the Emmy Awards. The show has been completely skunked both above and below the line including longtime host Chris Harrison. However, the ratings and buzz ABC enjoys every season when “The Bachelor” airs is no doubt worth more than any single trophy.
While “The Bachelorette” hasn’t received any awards recognition, it’s important to remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. “UnReal,” Lifetime’s show about the behind-the-scenes drama taking place while filming a “Bachelor”-esque dating show, scored two Emmy nominations last year: Best Drama Writing (“Return”) and Best Drama Supporting Actress (Constance Zimmer). “The Bachelorette” should feel somewhat responsible for helping “UnReal” with their storylines, as it was just announced that the suitor for Lifetime’s third season will be a woman.
