Season 1 of “Fargo” in 2014 went on to nab the Emmy for Best Limited Series, making it FX’s very first victory in a program race. That cycle also won prizes for Best Directing (Colin Bucksey) and Best Casting. However, none of the performers got their due despite nominations for Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman in lead, and Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks in supporting.

The second season won a pair of below-the-line Emmys in 2016 (Best Cinematography and Best Sound Editing), but thanks to the dominance of FX’s own “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” “Fargo” once again failed to win any acting prizes. The nominees for Season 2 were Kirsten Dunst for lead actress, Jean Smart for supporting actress, and Jesse Plemons and Bokeem Woodbine for supporting actor.
