‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’: Philando Castile, Bill Cosby, secret health care bill & more that was awful this week [WATCH]

“Summer starts today! Which used to mean news would slow to a trickle, padded out by gratuitous T&A reports from the beach and stories about skunks with their heads stuck in peanut butter jars — oh I miss those days,” said Samantha Bee on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” on June 21, lamenting another week of awful. “This summer’s news is a blur of terrorism, hate crimes and disasters.” Watch her take on all the happy news above.

“In criminal justice news, juries aren’t sure whether serial rape is a crime, but made it clear that being a black motorist is still a capital offense,” says Bee regarding the hung jury in the Bill Cosby sexual assault trial and the acquittal of the police officer who fatally shot Philando Castile during a traffic stop. “Okay, white allies, it is not enough to wear a ‘Black Lives Matter’ t-shirt. You’ve gotta answer your jury summons!”

Bee added, “Meanwhile in Washington, Senate Republicans are hard at work on their super-double-secret-written-in-invisible-ink health care bill.” The GOP is crafting the Senate bill in secret to avoid the blowback the House of Representatives received for their version of the bill, which the Congressional Budget Office said would cause 23 million fewer people to be insured. Hopefully we’ll learn the contents of the bill — and their likely effects — before it becomes the law of the land for one-sixth of the American economy. Fingers crossed.
