Fans of HBO’s hit fantasy series “Game of Thrones” have had to wait a little longer than usual to get their Westeros fix: the seventh season premiere was delayed from its usual April start date to July 16th to accommodate shooting in the snow. In the meantime, HBO has released the first series of photos from these highly anticipated episodes, including stills of Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, and Maisie Williams. In 2016, “Game of Thrones” made Emmy history by becoming the most rewarded scripted television series of all time with 38 wins over 6 seasons, surpassing previous record holder “Frasier”‘s 11 season tally of 37. In 2015, its 12 victories broke the record for the most wins by a drama series in a single year, blowing past “The West Wing”‘s first season haul of 9 in 2000. Many thought it could break its own record the very next season, but it had to settle instead for a tie. Due to its delayed start, “Game of Thrones” will not be eligible for this years Emmys, and will instead have to compete at next years ceremony.
