“I think ‘Big Little Lies’ has picked up buzz since its Emmy wins,” declares Matt Noble. “It is just as strong as it ever was, and it will probably do very well,” he adds. Noble is joined by fellow editor Rob Licuria and contributing writer Riley Chow to debate which TV movies, limited series and performers are in and out at the Golden Globes this year. ‘Big Little Lies’ swept the field at the Emmys earlier this year over “Feud: Bette and Joan” and “Fargo,” and it looks like it is poised to repeat this feat at the Globes. Watch their discussion above.
“I think we’ll see a lot of repeat names from what we saw at the Emmys months ago,” Licuria agrees. “But there are very exciting new shows eligible at the Golden Globes. I’m thinking specifically about ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ and ‘Top of the Lake: China Girl,’ and also ‘The Sinner.'”
Chow says we should also be mindful of a few surprises in these categories. “We actually have a number of contenders that haven’t come out yet, like ‘Godless’ on Netflix and like ‘Electric Dreams’ on Amazon,” he argues. “Also, ‘Black Mirror’ is something that the Globes missed last year. That won a couple of Emmys so maybe they might want to make up for that.”
