Harry Potter fans on this side of the Atlantic will have to wait another year before the two-part play that envisions their hero as an adult arrives. “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” which won a record nine Olivier Awards last month, is finally coming to Broadway next spring. This two-parter by Jack Thorne is based on an original story that he crafted with author JK Rowling and director John Tiffany which envisions Harry, Hermione and Ron as 30somethings about to send their own offspring to Hogwarts.

He is to direct the American edition at well, which will be staged at the Lyric Theater. That 42nd street locale is being overhauled to accommodate the elaborate staging of this production.

The only two races it lost were for music and choreography to “School of Rock” and its three bands and Matthew Bourne for “The Red Shoes” at Sadler’s Wells respectively.
