‘Honest Trailers’ takes on the Oscar nominees ‘La La Land,’ ‘Arrival’ & more [WATCH]

“It’s that time of the year, when LA’s pretty narcissists use their awards to take shots at DC’s ugly narcissists,” says the latest video from the Emmy nominated web series “Honest Trailers.” The series is dedicated to critiquing films in the style of parody movie trailers, and this week, just like last year, the viral favorite dedicated a special episode to affectionately roasting the nine Oscar nominees for Best Picture. The Oscar contenders are led by 14-time nominee “La La Land,” which contends for Best Picture, Best Actor (Ryan Gosling), Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Song and then Best Song a second time — “Again? Come on, did nobody watch ‘Sing Street’?” But if that isn’t voters’ cup of tea they could always opt for the brainy sci-fi drama “Arrival,” which is “Amy Adams‘s second movie this year about trying to relate to an alien no one gets along with” after “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” Otherwise they could “take a nonstop grief train to Sadsville” in the emotional drama “Manchester by the Sea.”

This isn’t the only award show “Honest Trailers” has tackled. In addition to ribbing last year’s Oscar contenders it also did a special edition last fall for the Emmys in honor of the show’s first ever nomination for Best Short Form Variety Series (that award went to “Park Bench with Steve Buscemi”).
