Kimberly Wannop (‘Veep’ set decorator) on a new beginning with former president Selina Meyer in the real world [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

During our recent webcam chat (watch the exclusive video above), “Veep” set decorator Kimberly Wannop reveals she was excited in season six to “get out of that government world that we’ve been in so much (exploring) what is Selina like in the real world?” Wannop reaped her second consecutive Emmy nomination this summer in Best Production Design for the HBO political satire. She shares this bid with production designer Jim Gloster and art director Andrew Leitch.

The veteran decorator began working on the show in season five, which ended with President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) getting booted out of the White House after losing the election. While many wondered where the show would go from there, Wannop was eager for this “new beginning.” She believes the writers had “made these characters so wonderfully rounded that they can go out into the world and it’s still able to be funny, and they still can come back together and have great scenes. So it was pretty exciting for us to be able to start almost like a new show.”
