“This show is a great show, and it’s literally gotten better every season,” exclaims Lance Reddick during our recent webcam chat (watch the exclusive video above) about his series”Bosch.” Based on the popular book series by Michael Connelly, this Amazon original stars Titus Welliver as LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch, who’s under suspicion after a serial killer he’s been pursuing turns up dead. Reddick plays Deputy Chief Irvin Irving, who’s weighing his career options following the untimely death of his son, a rookie cop.
Despite his admiration for the show, the actor admits he was at first reluctant to take the part because, “I had been playing kind of a top cop on television in a series lead for ten years in a row.” Yet Irving was nothing like Lt. Cedric Daniel in “The Wire” or Philip Broyles in “Fringe,” which peaked his interest. Whereas Daniels, “was a cop at heart,” and Broyles, “is really a soldier,” Irving, “is the quintessential politician. He loves the games of power.”
In addition to his roles in “The Wire” and “Fringe,” Reddick has also been seen on “Oz,” “Lost,” and “American Horror Story,” to name but a few. After decades in front of the camera, will he finally receive his first Emmy nomination? Check out our full interview above for more about his work on “Bosch.”
