“This winter, see a film that’s not afraid to pander to your emotions, a film that is shamelessly timed for awards season — ‘Oscar Bait,'” opens a parody trailer from NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that aims to check off all of the academy’s boxes. The Los Angeles Times raves, “It’s the most blatant attempt to win an Oscar since ‘The King’s Speech.'” Watch it above.

Seth Meyers stars in “Oscar Bait” as a sad family man and latent homosexual who cries 47 times and suffers from the rare disease of balloon foot — “If it pops, I die,” he says courageously. Marvel at the “pretentiously artistic shots of a man’s hand grazing wheat” and “that weird Spike Lee thing where the character is gliding towards the camera … what the hell is that thing?”
The viral video skewers more tropes of highfalutin awards movies, but it misses one big one: it’s not a biopic. That’s too bad — it coulda been a contender.
