Liev Schreiber (‘Ray Donovan’) chats Ray’s critical decision of choosing family or his Hollywood fixer job [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]

During our recent webcam chat (watch the exclusive video above), Liev Schreiber reveals that in the fourth season of “Ray Donovan,” his character had a critical choice as he was “forced to make a decision about which world he wanted to live fully in: the world of his family or the world of his job.” Schreiber stars in this Showtime series as a Hollywood fixer who struggles to balance his career with his family life. The show features Jon Voight as his ex-con father Mickey, Paula Malcomson as his long-suffering wife Abby, and Eddie Marsan as his Parkinson’s-afflicted brother Terry.

One of the major hurdles Ray must overcome in Season 4 is Abby’s cancer diagnosis. Schreiber explains, “I think Ray, in many ways, has had his growth stunted by the abuse (of his father) and relies heavily on his wife to support him, and to remind him of who he is and what it is he should be doing. So I think he’s really, really quite terrified by the possibility of her illness. It’s one of the things I love about the character, the contrast of that sort of stoic masculinity with somebody who is in fact quite childlike and vulnerable at their core.”

Schreiber has received two Emmy nominations for “Ray Donovan” as Best Drama Actor (2015 and 2016). He also contended in 2000 as Best Movie/Mini Actor for playing Orson Welles in “RKO 281.” He reaped a SAG Ensemble prize for the Oscar Best Picture winner “Spotlight” (2015), contending once before for “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” (2013). He is also a Tony Award winner for Best Featured Actor in a Play for “Glengarry Glenn Ross” (2005). Is his first Emmy win next?
