Lindsey Stirling ‘Carol of the Bells’ video: ‘Dancing with the Stars’ runner-up covers holiday classic [WATCH]

Lindsey Stirling may not have won season 25 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ — she was the runner-up behind Broadway star Jordan Fisher — but the violinist still has reason to celebrate the holiday season. On December 1 she premiered a new music video for “Carol of the Bells.” It comes from her Christmas album “Warmer in the Winter,” which she released on October 20 while she was still competing on the ABC reality-competition series. “Carol of the Bells” is a Christmas carol from 1914 by Ukranian composer Mykola Leontovych and lyricist Peter J. Wilhousky. It has become a holiday standard, and in fact it was the song to which Mandy Moore choreographed one of the “DWTS” dances that won her her first Emmy earlier this year. In less than a day Stirling’s video version already accumulated hundreds of thousands of views and will likely enter the millions. This is Stirling’s third video from “Warmer in the Winter”; “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” has been viewed 3.9 million times, and “Christmas C’Mon” featuring Becky G has been seen 1.5 million times — not counting the 132,000 who have watched Stirling and Becky G’s “DWTS” finale performance of the song.

YouTube is where Stirling became a star after competing on “America’s Got Talent” in 2010, reaching the quarterfinals. She has carved out a niche in the online music arena and currently has 10 million subscribers. That online success has translated to commercial success: her first two albums, “Lindsey Stirling” (2012) and “Shatter Me” (2014) were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America, and “Warmer in the Winter” hit number-one on Billboard’s Top Classical Albums chart and Top Holiday Albums chart.
