Lorde is back! The popular New Zealand singer-songwriter, who rose to fame as a teenager with her breakthrough 2013 single “Royals” and first album “Pure Heroine,” has premiered a video for “Green Light” (watch above), the lead single from her forthcoming second album, which she has announced is titled “Melodrama.”
She announced the new album on Instagram along with the album cover painted by Sam McKinniss (see below), saying, “‘Green Light’ is officially out in the world, and I am so pleased to share with you that this song is the first from my sophomore record, ‘Melodrama’ … Welcome to the new world.”
Lorde made a big splash at an unusually young age. She was 16 when “Pure Heroine” was released, and then after she turned 17 she won Grammys for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year for “Royals.” That made her the sixth youngest Grammy winner of all time, and the youngest ever winner of the top songwriting award. Can we expect big changes from her now at the ripe old age of 20? Watch the video above, and discuss this and more in our music forum.
