Comedian and actor Adam Devine has starred on both the big and small screens, so he was a fitting choice to host the MTV Movie and TV Awards. These were MTV’s first kudos to honor the best in television alongside the best in film, which the network has been rewarding since 1992. But how did he do during the live ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, May 7? We polled our readers, and 51% of you say that Devine did a great job and should come back to host the show again next year. Check out the complete poll results below.
Devine, who was also nominated for Best Comedic Performance for his role on the long-running Comedy Central series “Workaholics,” opened the show with an ambitious song-and-dance number to the tune of “Be Our Guest” from “Beauty and the Beast.” He dressed as the Beast alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Belle and Rebel Wilson as Mrs. Potts, and he set the stage on fire after a series of pratfall mishaps.
He followed that opening number with comedy bits including a parody of “Stranger Things” and lots of audience interaction. That was a winning formula for more than half of our readers. Another 33% of respondents thought he was just okay. Only 16% of you thought he was flat-out terrible, so perhaps MTV will invite him back to playfully burn the house down again next year.
