While the VMAs stayed out west in 2015 for a ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, last year’s awards took place at Madison Square Garden in midtown Manhattan. The Forum is also owned by that arena’s operator, MSG Entertainment. In making the announcement, Forum managing partner Shelli Azoff said, “MTV, at 35 years old, has been around almost as long as the Forum. Together, we’re 85 and enjoy lifetimes of music history. This year is sure to be another epic show with many incredible memories for MTV, the award winners and especially the fans.”
