Winners of the 48th NAACP Image Awards were announced Saturday (Feb. 11) during a live broadcast from Pasadena Civic Auditorium which aired on TV One. The two-hour special was hosted by Anthony Anderson, who won Best Comedy Actor for “black-ish” for the third year running. Entertainer of the Year went to Dwayne Johnson.
On the TV side, “black-ish” won Best Comedy Series for the third year in a row with both Anderson and his c0-star Tracee Ellis Ross doing the same in the lead races. Best Drama Series went to the freshman “Queen Sugar” and breakout star Sterling K. Brown won Best Drama Actor for the rookie hit “This Is Us.”
While a committee determined the nominees in each of the 56 categories, winners were chosen by NAACP members via a secured online site.
