The “Dancing with the Stars” judges thought singer Normani Kordei gave the best performance in week three of the competition, the show’s first ever “Vegas Night.” They gave her the highest combined score of the season so far (34 out of 40), but our readers weren’t so decisive. When we asked you to tell us who you thought gave the best performance, the result was a tie.
Kordei and gymnast Simone Biles both received 23% of reader votes. Biles finished fourth on the judges’ leaderboard, but she actually only fell two points shy of Kordei’s top marks with 32 out of 40. And she would have gotten more if judge Carrie Ann Inaba hadn’t deducted a point for what she perceived to be a lift during her quickstep.
Ranked a close third in our poll was figure skater Nancy Kerrigan with 19%. She had a breakthrough week thanks to her samba, which showed the same precision as her previous dances but greater confidence and interpretation. Judge Julianne Hough even thought it was one of the best sambas she’d seen on the show in years. Kerrigan scored 33 out of 40, tied for second place on the leaderboard with actress Heather Morris.
Speaking of which, Morris finished fourth in our polling with 11%. She performed a Britney Spears-inspired tango with substitute partner Alan Bersten, who was still filling in for injured Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Rounding out our top five, perhaps surprisingly, was bull rider Bonner Bolton. He has been a fan favorite and was praised by the judges for the first two weeks of competition, but this week’s Charleston got the better of him. Even though he was one of our readers’ top five favorite performers for the week, he finished at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 24 out of 40, tied with Mr. T and Charo, who was eliminated on Monday night.
